Discovery Green: Promoting a Better Future
Thesis: Discovery Green is a park that helps motivate, promote, and save our planet through different activities and attractions.
Discovery Green seems to be at the perfect location, 1500 Mc.Kinney Houston, Texas, surrounded by the George R. Brown Convention Center, Minute Maid Park, and the Toyota Center. These gigantic buildings add the “wow” factor to what was created in the middle of a busy city. The colorless buildings make me feel kind of cold when walking in downtown, but once I get to Discovery Green, a warmth is felt. Areas such as these could possibly inspire children to feel the sense of calmness when being surrounded by chaos. The massive, mature, live Oak trees and the fragrant colorful flowers add peacefulness to this eco-friendly park. The movement of the leaves while the wind blows through them reminds a person of their hair blowing in the wind; a sense of freedom is created. As a I looks up at the tall shadow casting buildings, I find my self standing on a moist flat grass, a small hill, or overlooking the glistening pond.
Reading this part of your essay was really interesting because it makes me feel like a sense of calmness by the way you describe Discovery Green. I had never heard of this place before reading this but now it makes me want to go there when I might want to relax one day. I like the different techniques you used to describe the place like the changes in temperature once you get there when it gets warmer. good job!
