Houston's Horizon over Verizon

Dominant Impression:
I want to showcase the intensity, craziness, and thrilling experience that could be found during a live concert at the small and intimate venue known as Verizon Wireless Theater.

Selected Body Paragraphs:
December 3rd at the Verizon Wireless Theater, Thirty Seconds to Mars is the headlining act. The ultramodern stage was set in the close venue with lights and all the vital equipment needed for the concert. Giant speakers were placed in the four corners to make the music highly audible. Even before the event got underway, there were people everywhere. All of a sudden, it felt like too many people in a small space. The crowd surged forward and back in one persistent wave like the wild waves of the ocean during a high tide. In such a situation, one could not help but to push and shove the others around. We were all packed in there like a crowded cage of Tasmanian devils.
The curtain drop, the crowd screams, the spotlights robotically rotate filling the room; many colors, blues, reds, greens filled the stage. Thirty Seconds to Mars is all ready and waiting in position on stage. The lead singer Jared Leto looked ready for war with his new Mohawk hairstyle and war paint across his lightly toned face. Smoke then arisen behind him and his soft whispered welcome comforted us as we watch his every move. We could not resist looking away for that we all were trapped in his trance. A display of lights shot a crossed the venue and the sounds of the opening song lyrics soon followed. As I was mesmerized by the amazing visual and audible range of the show, I had to move as the crowd allowed or insisted. All actions were done all together similar to geese flying in formation. There was only one group of crazed fans fighting for that one glimpse of their cherished star. One by one, concert goers passed out in the monstrous crowd and the crowd shifted even nearer to the stage. Now I advance closer to the stage.

  1. This is a catchy, exciting topic. It was very desciptive- I mostly enjoyed the way you painted a picture of the crowd and the atmosphere. Good use of supporting details and lively verbs.

  2. This is a great essay, the way you used feelings on the crowd and comparing it to the ocean felt like I was back in a concert. I think it is great that you used a band and their act to describe the theater. Good Job
