The Fine Arts Museum of Houston

Thesis:

The Fine Arts Museum of Houston is withou dispute the best place to visit in Houston. Indeed, this museum is a central place of cultural fusion, as it combines different kinds of arts from the world and the natural culture of Houston.

One body paragraph:

For me, visiting the museum is like taking a time machine, except I have to walk by myself. The art works are displayed chronologically. What most visitors don't know is they suppose start from the right hand side of the second floor, travel around the exhibition rooms, and then take elevator to down stair to finish their tour. Walking by the art works is like watching a movie that shows the development of art, except the smells of art works is the one thing that movie can not offer. I noticed that paintings from each period actually have their own smells; it's probably because of the distinct usage of paints by different artists. Those smells are conveying the history, the cultural and sprit from that specific era. And as a whole, all the smells of each individual work formed the smell of museum, which I named "The Smell of Art", on my first vist.

  1. This was really interesting to read! I've never been to the museum but now I'm anxious to see what it's like; to experience the smells you experienced at your visit! You paragraph is descriptive and keeps the reader engaged. I get a sense of why this museum is so special to the city of Houston.

  4. I didn't know that the art at the fine arts museum had smells, that's pretty cool. And I also didn't know that you start the tour from the second floor to the first floor. Great paragraph and thesis, hopefully I'll visit the museum soon.

  6. I have been to the museum once and like you said i was walking around without following a trace. The paintings do remind me the smell of the oil, or the acrylic used on them. Like you said it is a great combination of culture and art.
