Thesis: There are basketball courts all over the nation, but what makes the court so special is the advanced features, the intense competitive spirit, and most important the tradition.
Firstly, the features on the court are amazing and uncommon. Instead of a normal, rope net like at other basketball courts, Stone Gate has chain nets. Chain nets are significant because making a goal in basketball is the purpose of the game. The term generally referred to as "nothing but net" is usually followed by the onomatopoeia "swoosh", symbolizing the sound the rope net makes. However, with chain nets elevates this "swooshing" to the next level. When a ball is thrown through the chain net, the net rattles, as if it were a rattle snake, that sound is much more intimidating than a "swoosh". Another feature of the court is that is both visually appealing and practical, is the roof. The roof hoovers the court like a flying saucer about to land on Earth. Besides the futuristic appeal, rain or shine you can still play basketball at the court.
I really liked reading this part of your essay because of all of the descriptions you gave about the basketball court. Especially the similie about the roof caught my attention because it was a pretty funny comparison. But this essay really makes the reader feel the passion you seem to have about basketball the way you talk about the court.good job!
ReplyDeleteThis definitly made me want to visit this court. I've never thought of the net being so signifcant in playing basketball and it's very cool that it is there. I also like the way you described the roof as hoovering over the court,sounds like an interesting place to play a game.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me from reading your paper that you are really interested in basketball so you made the paper come more alive. I've lived in Cypress for sometime and Ive been to that court plenty of time.You have some good descriptive words in this blog.
ReplyDeleteI really like the diction you chose in this essay. Usually, while reading a description about a basketball court's features, I would only expect to learn about what the court has to offer. But while reading yours, I could actually get an insight as to the level of competition just by how intimidating you described the chain-net sound as. Well done!
